"For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? "Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? "And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?…

Country Secretary
We needed an "office area" of some sort, but with how open the house is I didn't want to have some big 'ol desk right out in the open so I went to my trusty friend Craigslist to see what I could find. It took some time, but I did find something that fit the space and the need - however - it will require some purging of office supplies, down to the bare minimum because of its size.
I just finished painting it with Miss Mustard Seed's milkpaint - color Ironstone. I distressed it and have a couple coats of hemp oil on it right now. I just love some its quaint features like bead board...
...chunky knobs
...turned legs (they remind me of architural salvaged finials)...
It will look perfect with the right accessories and a Simply White backdrop (in time).

The Tomato
So wonderfully versatile - through all of it's stages. Who would know you could use this fruit for bases in your soup, additions to your salad, for jams, even fried...
Pairing them with other wonderful things from the garden to make other forms of deliciousness.
Are you wondering how I am able to post about tomatoes when we had no garden of our own (to speak of) this year? One word... neighbors. A gal down the lane from us planted about 15 too many tomato plants and informed me they were all mine!!! Talk about being blessed. Of course I took her up on her offer and have recently been up to my eyebrows in tomatoes. So far I've been able to glean enough tomatoes for a couple dozen quarts of tomatoes.
With the help of my VitaMix - couple dozen quarts of sauce.
And from the two Roma plants (GIVEN to me) that I planted in a bare spot among the perennials; harvest has begun and I've made five quarts of fresh salsa - so far.
The tomato extravaganza is not over yet. And... there are even things getting done around the house too - now that's exciting! I'll have more to share soon.

Little Darlings...
These two little darlings are the two latest addition to our family. Only planning to get one dog, but then after we brought him home, we realized his life would be so much fuller with a playmate so we went the next day and got his sister. Introducing Naylee & Nickerson...
Nickerson is made of everything little boys are suppose to be made of. He's eaten walls, played with killed a little chick, dug holes, eaten chicken feed, etc... since he's been with us. We've gone from disciplining with our hands to a paint stick because he seems to be getting enough 'whoopins' that we don't want to hurt him, just let it sting. But he is so cute and so fun. He's going to be a good guard dog.
Naylee is Nickerson's laid back little sister. She is his partner in crime, but usually out of boredom. She is the love-bug of the two. She would rather sit in your lap than go play. She doesn't whine (her brother does enough for both of them) or bark - she just goes with the flow and loves on you when you're within her reach.
LOTS of puppy kisses around here lately!!!

Back Inside: A Revisit To The Bathroom
Well, fall is coming upon us and what we've needed to do outside is just about done (for now). So we've started back on the inside. And of course we're starting back in on the bathroom. If you recall, when we moved into the house three months ago, the hall bathroom looked like this...
Then demolition began and it looked liked this...
And finally, this...
When summer started we began the sheetrock with the express intention of getting it done before our first home school graduation, but it didn't happen the way we'd planned. And then there was a HUGE leak in the copper piping which meant the wall behind the shower had to come out :o(. Anyhow - we learned on the fly to sweat joints. We've stayed without that wall for two months now, making sure it didn't start leaking again. No leaks meant, as we started back on the inside, that wall could go back up. So... up went the wall tonight. And then we [meaning Daniel] continued on and actually made progress.
The shower room walls were next on the agenda.
And then... wah-lah! A new room is revealed with the seperation of walls! See that backer-board on the floor? Yep - that's going to be done soon too - the tile is in waiting as well. That's going to be something new for me - I've never installed tile before, but that's never stopped me with anything before.
I'm not sure what tomorrow holds, but I'm sure progress is involved.
