The Many Scenes of Christmas

The calm before the storm; Christmas Eve night.
Children were nestled all snug in their beds while visions of Wii games danced in their heads.... OK, they didn't [exactly] know they were getting a Wii, but I suppose they were really hoping for one!!!!

Sydney says "Can we start?  I know I got a Nancy Drew game, but I can't tell which one it is...".
Ali says "Mom, this stocking was great while I was growing up, but
it's a little embarrassing for me at almost 18!"

Oooohhhh Cato!  Yay!  Clothes and jewelry to match!
"I got everything I wanted this year - and things that I didn't realize I wanted!"

I love it all SOOOOO... much!

Me in my many layers trying to stay warm and not liking how the baked french toast turned out!

What's that Ali?  You broke what while you were playing table-top ping pong
with your dad in the dining room?

Oh, that's what you broke while you were playing table-top ping pong
with your dad in the dining room.

Where's Dad you ask?  Why, he's outside looking at the mountains like a child
looking at the many jars in candy store - l.o.n.g.i.n.g. to get into them!

Birthday Party

We invited several families over to our house recently and threw a birthday party.  This resulted in about 40 people being here - all in sweet fellowship.  Ages spanned from 18 months to late forties.  Dinner, dessert, and delirious fun!  We played a charades kind of game that we learned long ago in another fellowship we shared with - and was just as fun with these folks!

I tried my first attempt at decorating a cake more than the candy letters you buy in the cellophane package.  And although it's nothing fancy - I think it turned out pretty cool.  I'm certain the guest of honor liked it!

What a great time of year.  With the milestone birth of our Savior drawing near and so many opportunities to glorify His name; Jesus.  We have so much to be thankful for.  I become weepy thinking about the selfless cause He came to earth - fully man, fully God - just to Save me.  Who am I, but another sinner that isn't worthy for what He did; what He endured.

But I'm so thankful - that selfless cause made me Free!

Tennis

We've taken quite a liking to tennis as of lately.  Our family gets out on the court and makes up our own rules as they are needed.  Serving is never done the same [right] way, and backhands never look quite like, well, backhands.  If someone hits the ball over the fence it is HER responsibility to make the trip outside the fence to fetch it.  As long as we can keep the ball in flight, we're good!

Daniel played when he was in high school - I played when I was in junior high gym class (I think).  We are trying to close the gap in the learning curve between Daniel and the rest of us (on warm days).  Watching us provides much amusement, I'm certain.  Each of us girls slams the ball into one of the other courts and Daniel yells "switch", at which point everyone runs to the closest court where the ball was lobbed so the one getting the ball doesn't have to run so far back.

The best part about it are the sweet memories being built that will last a lifetime - for all of us.

Cookie Exchange

I hosted my first ever cookie exchange for the ladies of the home school co-op we've been involved with.  We had some snacks, soup, sweets, and cider; along with a crazy amount of laughs!

We did a white elephant gift exchange.

As well as a reindeer antlers game.
By the pictures can you guess what the object of the game was?

Can you tell who won?

Although, all put in wonderful amounts of effort :o)

Fellowship of all ages goes a long way....
